October.
Amy: Colette... do you know what October means?
Colette:... um... no. What? Fall or something? *sarcastically*
Amy: That's exactly what I was going to say!
I cannot believe that it is October 2nd already! Where did the time go? October is such a notable month, September is always associated with bad things (aka...school starting, summer ending), but by the time October rolls around, you've been in school for long enough that the routine is likeable at this point and there is no sense in really trying to fight for your summer back. Summer is OFFICIALLY gone. It is just time to embrace fall: the weather, the smell, the leaves turning... the delightful apples that you should probably be off somewhere picking instead of sitting home on the weekends. I just love fall. I hope that I will actually embrace it a lot more than I have usually done when I have taken most things for granted at home.
Here at school, I've found, that sitting in a dorm room for lengthy periods of time is NOTHING like sitting at home for lengthy periods of time. There is a sort of sadness that comes along with a dorm room for some reason. Perhaps because it is the only place where you can be, as opposed to being in a house where you can move around at your own free will, and there will be plenty of places to go. When the only option is your bedroom/den/computer room/kitchen/dining room… etc… it kind of loses its appeal to be in for periods of time. So, I’m trying to make myself go out side more and sit on the quad, before the winter when I’ll be forced to sit in the snow if I wanted to do that- and let’s be serious, that would not be happening anytime soon. Haha.
I am excited to see what fall is like here. I’m sure that it is very beautiful in terms of the trees around campus… and some walks will be very nice to take: especially those down and back from the theatre… the weather will be cooler so it will not be nearly as bad to go up and down that hill without breaking nearly as much of a sweat.
Those are my ideas of fall. I’m excited. That only means that winter is one step closer—I know my dad is really excited for that one!
Much love.
~A~
