Feminism.
Today in women's history, we discussed the last lecture that we had done in class. Today is when the RA gets to teach the class and we break into smaller groups.
Our RA asked us who among us identified as a "feminist" so, a good amount of people reaised their hands (surprisingly less than I had personally expected), but for the RA, apparently she was very shocked. Of course I raised my hand, because I do consider myself one. As she went around the room and asked the femenists vs. non-femenists why or why not they identify as such. One girl said "When I call myself a 'femenist' I feel an empowerment" Immediately i was like, *Thinks to herself* "Thats a little odd, that word choice.. hm... empowerment?" SO I raised my hand and described that I personally don't feel a sense of 'power' when i call myself a femenist. This erupted into quite an interesting conversation, where suddenly the empowered girl felt that she should not have said that and quickly took back her statement. It was an odd course of events that I was not expecting in the slightest.
There is also one boy in our discussion group. When asked "Who is the most influential woman in his life" he said "The most influential women ARE my two moms" and that was interesting. He seems really nice and obviously really open and like a really good point of view to have in the class among all crazy women.
So. thats the little factoid of the day.
goodday sir.
